Not only are family meals at home important to us so we can connect without distractions, it's important because it saves us money. I'm a frugal mom and it's important for us to spend frugally when it comes to enjoying a family meal. When comparing the cost of a meal at a restaurant vs. at home, the difference is significant! Even when we eat out with a coupon, it is still pretty pricey. If we ate out every night, the total would probably be around $175-$200. If I were to make dinner at home and focused on making the entire meal for around $5, that is over an 80% savings!
For family dinners I like to cook but I also like to have frozen meals on hand when I am short on time. I was recently asked to try the Marie Calendars Bakes meal for one of our family dinners. There are many flavors to choose from:
Chicken, Spinach, and Mushroom Lasagna
We enjoyed the Creamy Chicken Alfredo this evening. We really liked the taste, in fact my kids even ate all the veggies that were included! I served this meal with a side of garlic toast bread which seemed to accompany it very well.
At my Walmart these were only $4.64 per package. There is currently a coupon for $1.50/1 available to print at MarieCalendars.com. This makes it only $3.48 which for a family of 4 is only $.79 a person! What a great deal!
Another benefit that I really liked is the option to either bake in an oven or in the microwave. This means if I am in a hurry and I need to make dinner fast, I can have this out in around 10 minutes!
